Sykia is a village with 3,853 inhabitants and the seat of the former Municipality of Toroni and now the Municipality of Sithonia in the prefecture of Halkidiki. It is a municipal district with the same name. It is the southernmost and most isolated village of Sithonia, at a distance of 160 km from Thessaloniki. The inhabitants are mainly engaged in fishing, agriculture, beekeeping, animal husbandry and tourism. The houses retain their traditional color in terms of Mount Athos architecture. In the settlement there are KEP and a doctor’s office.

Sykia is one of the oldest and largest villages of Halkidiki. It is located on the southeast side of Sithonia and is famous both for its exotic beach and for its long history. It is a relaxed and quiet village with picturesque old houses and narrow alleys. The houses retain their traditional character and elements of monastic architecture, as the village belonged to the monastery of Megisti Lavra.
